Admittedly, due to the time constraint for the resubmission, there were two techniques I learned but didn't try: reading out loud and reading backward, sentence by sentence.

I've never tried them but I believe I'll give it a go. Better than giving up anyway. I wonder if my critique group wouldn't mind reading a revised piece.
