Hello.
I'm planning to write a Graphic Novel with my friend that I hope to get up onto the internet at some point. We're already in the midst of writing another one, but this idea came to us a few months ago. And I decided that I wanted to write a little backstory for it, so I did.
But I'd just like to get some construstive critque on it really and check that it makes sense to a reader who hasn't heard any of what the story is meant to be about. :)
The city was a vibrant place once. The story goes that in the beginning, the elder wizards visited our kingdom and gifted mortals with their magic. This granted them with the wonders of having more abilities than anyone else in the 31st century.
In some ways, the kingdom was very much like a medieval city. Only a medieval city with buzzing cars and motorbikes that if you accelerated them enough would fly up into the air.
Like any kingdom in this part of the world, there was a king and queen. They ruled the entire city. The royal family however, changed every five years for the next thousand years whilst the magic was still around.
People lived in harmony, they classed it as a Utopia that would never be vanquished.
But as the magical abilities began to grow amongst people, there was accidents. Accidents that could and would happen with anything. The more people drive a car, the more those people are at risk of having an accident somewhere.
It seemed like it was a normal part of life.
To have accidents.
And some accidents just so happened to lead people into misery. And when the Kings wife died, from an accident including magic. He ordered everyone with a magical ability to be banished from the kingdom.
They were kidnapped during the night and taken to a prison. Some would say it was the most hellish place on the surface of the earth. They’re memories were taken, the guards tortured them for no reason. The people inside that place were just left there to wither away and rot.
To die.
Of course there were hundreds of attempts to break into the prison’s metallic walls.
But no one succeeded.
The prison was built with the strongest metal on earth, not even the strongest of bull dozers or magical enchantments would be able to break free from this building.
The King never stopped looking for people with magical abilities. He sent his armies to every village, city, and town within a thousand miles calling them Outcast Hunts. He brought down other cities just so he could be sure that all magic was away from himself and his daughter.
But then the Kings daughter began to show signs of having a magical ability and before the child could pursue it more, she was banished to live with Gypsy’s.
And called Aurora.
Tristan was one of the people caught after the fifth year of the Outcast. Like everyone else his mind was taken away. Making him forget everything about what led him to have a magical ability in the first place. But what Tristan nor Aurora didn’t realise, was that they’re lives would soon be pulled together.
They would have to join forces, and save the world of magic from disappearing.
Forever.
