There are a lot of really old movies with a kind of 'ghost city' theme. I can't think of many novels/movies, but there is A LOT of non-fiction on the subject. Chernobyl, Kadykchan, Beichuan,Prypiat, are all good examples of abandoned cities. Everything about Pompeii has that haunted feeling that you look for in a ghost-city-novel. Hope I helped.
