...because I always seem to leave them out :P

Anyway, I've been doing a little bit of lurking here for the past week or so and have found this LJC rather interesting. I do some writing for fun and have no real interest in getting published. Some of my random scribbles might end up here.

I also sometimes leave reviews. I prefer the fantasy genre as a whole, but will sometimes branch out if I find something that grabs my attention. As an advance warning to all, I am not a particularly nice reviewer. I don't spare anyone's feelings when critiquing and don't particularly feel up to changing it at this point in my life. On the plus side, I'm pretty thorough, will point out anything I liked (even if it is only one line) and will not think less of anyone who writes something that made my eyes bleed. It takes some measure of courage to post sample chapters up and that should be lauded. I'm pretty sure no one here writes that badly  though :)

Everyone has at least heard the term Mary Sue and has least some idea how to avoid it. But there are a lot of other things to keep in mind when creating and writing a character. Here's some thoughts I've had on just a few of these things. I'd love to hear everyone else's thoughts on writing characters.

I'm pretty new to LJ and the community and just wanted to say a big hello to everyone and that I'm looking forward to reading everyone's stuff. :) At the moment I'm attempting to *complete* a serialised story on my journal and I welcome any critique on it as I'm revising as I go! I'm a fantasy writer primarily, and like to create maps, languages... the whole shebang! :D
