Hi, I'm writing a series of short stories about a (all original) superhero team, and part of the "conflict" is how they relate with the media and the public opinion. Also, there's a undercurrent of misunderstanding in that the public perceives some interactions between some members of the group as something diferent that it realy is.

I don't know if I'm making much sense, sorry, my maternal language is Spanish, not English. The thing is that I have problems getting the perception of the group correctly. I know what I want the public to believe, and I know the real relationship, but I'm afraid that when the time comes and what the public believes gets in the open, the readers will go "where did that come from?"

So, if you could help me telling me what would be your impresion about the group if you where there the first time the public sees them together, that would be helpful. Little background and excerpt of the story under the cut.

Background: What the public already knows: Jose was abducted at nine years old and came back 30 years later. He doesn't talk with the media and everytime he sees a camera gets very serious, so there are a lot of rumours going around. Arash (Sarraceno) is born in Iran and gay, and some people don't like him for both things, even if he's a Spanish citizen and stopped a terrorist attack. The only thing the public know about the girl is that she has tentacles instead of hair.

Story: (The trio enters the bar, somebody says, loudly: "You're the TV superheroes!")
"Yes, yes, we are..." Sarraceno, if that was his name, had a very quiet voice and  a little bit of an acent. And he looked as if he wanted the earth to swallow him. "We wanted to have a drink, without..." He looked around, unsure about how to continue.
"Without people getting in our faces. You know, ignoring us." The second man interjected, taking a step to put himself between his group and the rest. Everything in his posture screamed that he would hesitate in punching somebody, if needed.
(Here the first man says that it's ok, that it's only that they're the first famous people to come in the bar, if you don't count two guys that are know for something stupid. The guys are there and jokingly take ofense)
The tentacled girl laughed and that seemed to break the bad mood. She and Jose went to sit down while the arab went to get the drinks. Jose sat in a way that he could see the doors, both the principal and one that was blocked with a vending machine.
"So, what can I get you... Sarraceno, was your name?" The bartender asked.
"His name's Arash. Sarraceno's an insult". The tension was back, and Jose sat straighter, looking directly at Pilar (the bartender)
The tentacled girl sighed and, with the air of somebody used to it, wrapped two tentacles around Jose's arm. "Jose, stop it."
"Yes, Jose, stop it." Arash didn't turn around to talk to him, but it wasn't necesary, his words seemed to calm him, at least superficially. "Like he said, I'm Arash, he's Jose and she's Agueda. You can call me Sarraceno, if you want. It isn't an insult if I don't care."
(After getting the drinks, he goes to the table and sits next to Jose.)
