I agree, in general, although I do think 'jargon' (the language, esp. the vocabulary, peculiar to a particular trade, profession, or group) does have its uses. In this case, I think 'comment' is too broad a term, wheras 'critique' is, I believe, widely understood amongst writers to mean 'to review or analyze critically'. That is certainly my experience, and I don't read the Boston Globe.
