These 'Building' posts are mainly food for thought and to help trigger the creative brain in figuring out characters and world building. You can answer the questions in the comments here or in your own personal journal or not at all, this isn't mandatory. I hope people choose to post their answers here because it is fun and interesting to see how other people see their characters and worlds. If you do choose to post your responses in your own journal please put a link back to this community with it. The more members and participation we have the more fun this will be.

The basics - Appearance

Character's name?
1. Hair colour? Style, length, texture?
2. Eye colour? Describe the colour with more detail, don't just say brown or blue.
3. What kind of gaze does this character have or what do his/her eyes say? What would the other characters say those eyes say?
4. Skin colour? Texture?
5. Ethnicity?
6. Body type or build?
7. Height?
8. Weight? Does this fit with the body type? A Conan body builder will be heavy and a voluptuous woman will be heavier too.
9. Age?


Interview with your character

In your character's voice answer the following questions:

1. What is your name?
2. Where do you live and what time period are you from?
3. How do you support yourself? What do you do for a living?
4. What do you do for fun?
5. Do you have any pet peeves (no, not THAT Peeves)?
6. What are a few of your favorite things?

Ohh this is fun! Here is my answer :)

The basics - Appearance

Character's name: "Plamen" (his real name he never tells anyone)

1. Hair colour? Style, length, texture?: firey (reds, browns, oranges, yellows.); Long and straight with some bits braided and tied, mostly loose; smooth like wet spider silk :)

2. Eye colour? Describe the colour with more detail, don't just say brown or blue.: Crimson, akin to looking into an active volcano.

3. What kind of gaze does this character have or what do his/her eyes say? What would the other characters say those eyes say?: They say nothing, as his vision like his emotions, are guarded by a wall of seeming indifference.

4. Skin colour? Texture?: Pale, he has freckles on his cheeks.

5. Ethnicity?: He's a spirit, but he was raised by Asian humans.

6. Body type or build?: thin, muscular but not overly so.

7. Height?: He is shorter than most men in the west (about 5'9-5'10)

8. Weight? Does this fit with the body type? A Conan body builder will be heavy and a voluptuous woman will be heavier too.: His wight is proportional to his body size, about 140lb's

9. Age?: 30

1. What is your name? "...Plamen"

2. Where do you live and what time period are you from? "I'm not sure and in a time where magic is just leaving the world."

3. How do you support yourself? What do you do for a living? "When I was younger my brothers and I gained vast wealth in ridding the land of dragons. But after...an incident I took what little I needed and left for the west."

4. What do you do for fun? "Write poetry."

5. Do you have any pet peeves (no, not THAT Peeves)? "People asking too many questions and assuming too much about me."

6. What are a few of your favorite things? "Poetry, art, song, nature, tea."

Heehee that was fun, too bad Plamen is a grouch.

Am I the first one to admit to google-ing character names? So... Bulgarian for Fire. Fits with the rest! I'm going to take a guess and assume he has power over fire. You said he's a spirit, so that got my attention since I haven't read very many stories featuring spirits. Grouchy, nonwithstanding. ;)

I'm also interested in the mention of, 'shorter than most men in the west' since that implies he is in the west, but 'he' also mentioned that he wasn't sure where he was...

Also curious about the slaying dragon bit. Was that when he was alive, or are spirits redefined in your world? Sorry if I'm being a bother, I just tend to ask a lot of questions.

Calypso

1. Hair: Mousey Brown
2. Eyes: Muddy Blue. When she is Awakened : deep violet.
3. Eye Speak: To most, her eyes speak of a boring, unremarkable person. To those few that know her, they reveal a trustworthy personality. Once she is awakened, to those what know what it means, her eyes bring fear.
4. Skin colour: Pale skin, scars and burns from dealing with a petulant dragon hatchling.
5. Ethnicity: Human. (This is Fantasy. Human, elf, dragon... Those are the only 'races' I care to expound on.)
6. Body type: Boyishly lean
7. Height: Petite
8. Weight: The next wind could knock her over.
9. Age: 19 in prologue, 28 in actual story.


Interview with Calypso

1. What is your name?

Oh, Calypso.

2. Where do you live and what time period are you from?
Right now, Jonathan and I are living in the mountains of present day North Carolina. The ungrateful, nasty piece of work destroyed my apartment in the city, so I had no choice but to move us out here.

3. How do you support yourself? What do you do for a living?
Since Jonathan got me fired from my old job, I'm now a night waitress in a dive at the base of the mountain we live on. Not much worse than being a telemarketer, I suppose.

4. What do you do for fun?
Fun? I don't believe I remember what that is. Unless you call dodging poisonous dragon spit or pulling thorns out of your keister a rip-roaring good time.

5. Do you have any pet peeves (no, not THAT Peeves)?
Yeah. His name is Jonathan.

6. What are a few of your favorite things?
A good night's sleep without being woken by a burning bedspread. A sunset that isn't accompanied by the screeching and cackling of a hungry hatchling. Oh! And I adore candy canes. Jonathan can't stand them, and he usually stays far, far away until the smell wears off.
