I just had a brief rant about this, but then I thought it might be useful to this community, so here you go:
Louise Thurtell -fiction publisher of Allen and Unwin's new Arena imprint - has made every Friday her pitch day. Authors of adult popular fiction(crime, romance, thriller, history, fantasy - whatever, so long as it's adult fiction) who are looking for publication can send Louise their first chapter and a synopsis by email(preferably) or mail. All subs must reach her on a Friday. Louise will get back to authors whose work she wants to take further. If you haven't herd back by 5.30pm on the following Thursday, then assume they won't be taking it any further. No mailed subs will be returned, don't send SASE.

I find her attitude utterly condescending but by all means besieger her!
