Has anyone ever felt overwhelmed with your writing? I mean it in terms of trying to get your start. I am currently writing a sitcom and I look on the internet and buy books and all they say is " Good luck because you have no chance in hell". I think it's so negative to always have that in everything sure Ii realize that it's an uphill battle but give the person some hope for god sake it's already overwhelming trying to write but put that in the back of your mind. It's crazy, but I have to admit I love writing it. Even if it never gets any air time I haven't had so much fun. This is why I know I want to do this as a carrer.

I can understand your situation. When I first starting reading books on screenwriting, most were in the tone of "I tried it and If I didn't make it, you won't either." I hate that. I'm hopefully making my first short film next year and to be honest, if I only ever do this one film or if I only ever complete what I write and they're never bought, I had a lot of fun doing them and I figure, what else would I have done with my time, if not write?

I'm guessing screenwriting is in a realm of its own...discouraging new comers and all. :)

Most of the writing books I've picked up said the opposite: try and you might succeed. So much so, that I sometimes wonder if it's to encourage the sales of 'how-to-write' books.
