I wrote a very short piece that I'd like someone to look over. It's about a somewhat odd family and dealing with loss. I apologize in advance for how awful it may be to other people.

I really liked this. You kept the story just this side of sentimental; that was handled very lightly, and I think it worked. Also, I liked how the magical elements were kept very light as well. They work in the logic of the story. There was no explanation about them, but I think that works. It's like, "here is what happened." I don't like stories that tie up every loose end and try to explain everything. A bit of mystery in a story like this always gives that little shiver up the spine; it leaves the reader with something to ponder. Good story!
