[identity profile] spikeygrrl.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] writers_loft
Hey there! I'm writing a piece set in the 17th century, and it features a guard in a castle in what was then Hungary. As searches on the internet are proving fruitless, I was wondering if any of you would know the kind of hours guards worked in that time period, or could point me to some kind of reference material that could help me. Did they work a few 24 hour days and then have a bunch of days off, or was there more of a rotation, with some people working days and some working nights? Did they go home afterwards, or did they generally have a sleeping area in the castle?

Thanks a bunch!

I have no idea. But you might want to try the community [livejournal.com profile] little_details. If you do post there, be sure to give them info on what you've done to research this already (what search terms you used in google, etc).
