I just had a brief rant about this, but then I thought it might be useful to this community, so here you go:

Louise Thurtell -fiction publisher of Allen and Unwin's new Arena imprint - has made every Friday her pitch day. Authors of adult popular fiction(crime, romance, thriller, history, fantasy - whatever, so long as it's adult fiction) who are looking for publication can send Louise their first chapter and a synopsis by email(preferably) or mail. All subs must reach her on a Friday. Louise will get back to authors whose work she wants to take further. If you haven't herd back by 5.30pm on the following Thursday, then assume they won't be taking it any further. No mailed subs will be returned, don't send SASE.

I find her attitude utterly condescending but by all means besieger her!

Starting to write a new fantasy/RPG like story, so tell me what you think:

Shadowed Jewels Of Corinth (Chp 1)

Shadowed Jewels Of Corinth (Chp 2)

I also have it posted at FictionPress.com if you prefer to read it there :)

Sorry the chapters are so short. They look long on paper, but when you type them up they end up being a lot shorter than you think they will be! lol
Anyway, enjoy the story!

I've got a poem I've got to send out this weekend for consideration to be published in a student lit journal. I would love it if another pair of eyes gave it a once over. Anyone around that's interested?

Have you ever read a story where the main character's name has the same name of the author?

If so, how did you feel about that?
Did it affect the story in any way?
Did it take away from the setting/tone/feeling of the story because you kept being reminded of the author, and not the character, in the situations?
What does that say, to you, about the author?

If not, how would you feel if you did read a story with same name attributes?
Do you think that it would affect the story?
Do you think that it would take away from the setting/tone/feeling of the story because you kept being reminded of the author, and not the character, in the situations?
If you knew that a story had same name attributes, what would that tell you about the author?

I was just wondering because a guy in my Writing Fiction class turned in a story that had a character with the same first and last name as him. And I'm not too fond of same name attributes.

You can read my response in my journal here.
