Using the words worse and worst.

I am no English language or grammar expert but...

I've been running across this one a lot lately and twice today:
(this is a direct quote and in no way expresses my views) "Canadians are the worse tippers and most demanding!"
That is incorrect. It should be, Canadians are the worst tippers and the most demanding!
You have something that is not good or bad.
Then, if it deteriorates, it is worse (and worser is NOT a word).
Finally, if it is as bad as it can get it is the worst.
Worse is also a word that compares, Canadians tip worse than Germans.

Anyone want to elaborate on this?

Do you have examples of your own to share?

CORRECT.

If one thing is bad, it's bad.

If it's bad, more so than one other thing, then it's WORSE.

If it's bad, more so than two or more otehr things, then it's the WORST of them.

Same for GOOD, BETTER and BEST. And so on. I forget what the different forms of the adjective are called, but there are proper terms for the varying contexts in which it's used.

WORSE is the comparative
WORST is the superlative.
I used to know what BAD was defined as but I don't remember.

Toward vs towards. It's all in your perspective. Brits use towards more, and Americans like toward. It has nothing to do with how many people are doing the action, (He walked toward the door. They walked towards the door.) like some people presume. Both words are correct in that usage.
